Hero Honda qtrly net dips, margin pressure to continue

MUMBAI, July 29 (Reuters) – India’s Hero Honda Motors
(HROH.BO: Quote, Profile, Research), on Thursday reported a 1.6 percent dip in quarterly
net profit, its first decline in 11 quarters, and analysts
said
margins would remain under pressure in the current quarter as
well.

“If I go by the June quarter numbers they will be able to
increase their profitability only marginally and supply
constraints will still continue for sometime,” said Vineet
Hetamasaria, auto analyst with PINC Research in Mumbai.

India Mahindra Q1 net rises, not decided on Ssangyong

MUMBAI, July 28 (Reuters) – Mahindra & Mahindra (MAHM.BO: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz)
said it will postpone a decision on bidding for South Korean
sport utility vehicle maker Ssangyong Motor (003620.KS: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz), buying
itself some time before the Aug 10 deadline for bids.

Mahindra is expanding its vehicle line-up and is pushing
into new markets to fuel its growth after missing out in 2007
on buying Jaguar and Land Rover, which eventually went to rival
Tata Motors (TAMO.BO: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz).

Maruti skids 12 pct as profit outlook worsens

MUMBAI, July 26 (Reuters) – Shares in Maruti Suzuki
(MRTI.BO: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) tumbled as much as 12 percent as India’s top carmaker
spooked investors with a surprise rise in royalty payments to
its parent, forcing analysts to slash growth estimates for the
company.

On Saturday, Maruti unexpectedly reported a 20 percent fall
in net profit in April-June, hit by high raw material costs, an
increase in royalty payments, and a weakening of the euro which

Bajaj Auto Q1 profit doubles, margins seen improving

MUMBAI, July 22 (Reuters) – Bajaj Auto (BAJA.BO: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz), India’s
second-largest motorcycle maker, met forecasts with a doubling
in quarterly profit and analysts expect margins to improve on
rising sales and lower wage-related expenses.

The maker of top selling motorbikes such as the Pulsar and
the 100cc Discover is riding an economic rebound in India that
has boosted consumer spending and bolstered the outlook for
companies.

India Mahindra submits letter of intent for Ssangyong

MUMBAI, May 29 (Reuters) – Mahindra & Mahindra (MAHM.BO: Quote, Profile, Research),
India’s top utility vehicle and tractor maker, on Saturday said
it had submitted a letter of intent to make a bid for troubled
Korean SUV maker Ssangyong Motor, but declined to comment on
how much it was willing to pay.

Seven foreign and South Korean companies have submitted
letters of intent for Ssangyong (003620.KS: Quote, Profile, Research), 10 percent owned
by China’s SAIC Motor Corp (600104.SS: Quote, Profile, Research), Ssangyong said on

Mahindra submits letter of intent for Ssangyong

MUMBAI (Reuters) – Mahindra & Mahindra, India’s largest utility vehicles and tractor maker, on Saturday said it had submitted a letter of intent to make a bid for Korean sport utility vehicle (SUV) maker Ssangyong Motor.

On Friday, sources had told Reuters that Mahindra and Renault had both submitted letters of intent for Ssangyong.
