Sorry, it was the award of the "prize", not "price". Although that comment is interesting as well!

The award of this price, to this "person", following the premature award to Barak Obama, shows that the committee is attempting to influence world opinion rather than reward true progress towards peace. This award is at least somewhat in response to what the EU has done, but the timing is clearly political. Both awards cheapen the prize.

People-to-people integration within Europe and the perceived opposition to it felt by various cultural groups there in, is one of the chief motives behind the award of Noble Peace Prizes, earlier to Barack Obama-to underline the American example of success in riding over the ethnic divide, and now,to European Union-to help political leaders there convince their individual masses about the fruitlessness of disintegration. But, the exercise seems to be exposing another unintended front: of not being able to decide on an individual leader whose political stand could be seen to be an acceptable role model for the entire European population. That difference in itself speaks volumes about the divide the award intends to paste over. It would have been much better to have selected an individual leader to show support for his or her efforts. Instead, the message that gets across is that there is no unanimous agreement as to which is the preferred way forward.
