Soccer-Champions League final has exceeded Juve’s expectations

BERLIN, June 5 (Reuters) – Juventus did not expect to reach the Champions League final and despite being underdogs on Saturday against Barcelona the Italian champions are hopeful of causing an upset, captain Gianluigi Buffon and coach Massimiliano Allegri said.

One match away from winning their first ever treble after their domestic league and Cup double, Juventus face their biggest challenge this season when they take on the in-form Spaniards, who are chasing their second trio of titles after 2009.

U.S. prosecutors issued an indictment on Wednesday accusing nine FIFA officials, including two vice presidents, and five sports media and promotions executives of bribes involving more than $150 million over 24 years.

Dortmund eye fitting Klopp era finale with German Cup win

(Reuters) – Borussia Dortmund want a fitting farewell for coach Juergen Klopp and his success-laden seven-year stint when they take on VfL Wolfsburg in the German Cup final on Saturday.

Klopp, who had announced his departure months ago, led Dortmund to the German league titles in 2011 and 2012, the German Cup in 2012 as well as two German Super Cups in 2013 and 2014.

Winter sports federations drop out of SportAccord

BERLIN (Reuters) – Winter Olympics sports federations (AIOWF) on Wednesday left SportAccord, suspending any collaboration with the umbrella organization in the latest fallout following a row with the International Olympic Committee, AIOWF said.

In a letter to SportAccord President Marius Vizer, seen by Reuters, AIOWF President Gian Franco Kasper said the decision had been taken with a “great majority.”
