New William Hill CEO enjoys strong start to reign

LONDON (Reuters) – Leading British bookmaker William Hill (WMH.L: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) said it expected operating profit this year to come in at the top end of market forecasts after the soccer World Cup helped boost its third-quarter results.

The figures are a fillip for new Chief Executive James Henderson, who took the top job in August after almost three decades with the company.

American football back in London with extra game

LONDON (Reuters) – The NFL roadshow rolls into London again next week for the first of three games designed to build its international fan base and lay the foundations for a team in the British capital.

The Oakland Raiders face the Miami Dolphins at Wembley Stadium on Sept. 28 and the home of English soccer will stage a further two NFL clashes over the autumn.
