Game fans shocked by Sony data hack turn to rivals

NEW YORK/LONDON , April 27 (Reuters) – PlayStation gamers
expressed shock on Wednesday at the massive data hack of Sony
Corp (6758.T: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) that compromised their personal information,
leaving many threatening to flock to Sony’s competitors and
other venues.

Shoppers at London video-games stores said they might leave
the network, PSN, which allows them to play games with 77
million other members and buy games online, while some gamers
writing in online forums called for a boycott of Sony
products.

Sony Playstation suffers massive data breach; firm criticised

TOKYO/NEW YORK (Reuters) – Sony Corp (6758.T: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) suffered a huge breach in its video game online network that allowed the theft of names, addresses and possibly credit card data belonging to 77 million user accounts, in one of the largest Internet security break-ins ever.

Sony said it learned of the breach in its popular PlayStation Network on April 19, prompting it to shut down the network immediately. Sony did not tell the public about the stolen data until Tuesday, hours after it unveiled its first tablet computers in Japan.

Lexmark’s Q2 forecast misses, shares plunge

NEW YORK, April 26 (Reuters) – Printer maker Lexmark
International Inc (LXK.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) issued a second-quarter forecast that
missed Wall Street expectations and sent its shares down nearly
16 percent.

While the entire printer business is shrinking as people
shift toward keeping documents in digital form, Lexmark
reported a decrease in profit on Tuesday that outpaced industry
declines, signaling it may be losing out to rivals such as
Canon (7739.T: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) and Samsung (005930.KS: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz).

NEW YORK (Reuters) – Zynga, the social games company, has poached the chief operating officer of Electronic Arts Inc, sources familiar with the matter said on Tuesday.

The executive, John Schappert, will head up Zynga’s game division, one of the sources said.

Xerox’s quarterly profit rises, Japan fears linger

NEW YORK (Reuters) – Xerox Corp (XRX.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) maintained its annual outlook but could not soothe investors’ concerns over the earthquake in Japan affecting its business, which sent shares down more than 3 percent on Thursday.

Xerox has manufacturing plants in Japan, buys components for its printers and copiers in the country and also has a 25 percent ownership stake in the Japan-based joint venture, Fuji Xerox.

Xerox outlook calms supply fears, profit rises

NEW YORK, April 21 (Reuters) – Xerox Corp’s (XRX.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz)
quarterly profit and revenue rose as it signed up more clients
for its business services offerings and it calmed investor
fears over the earthquake in Japan affecting its business.

The company did not cut its full year earnings outlook,
soothing concerns over supply chain disruptions, specifically
its Fuji Xerox operations in Japan, said Cross Research analyst
Shannon Cross.

As the company that makes the top-selling tax program, Intuit Inc can hardly complain about the process. Then again, companies best known for a single, seasonal product do not often witness their stock price rising 50 percent in one year and more than 100 percent in two years.
