MADRID, May 5 (Reuters) – Lionel Messi came off the substitute’s bench to score twice and help Barcelona to a 4-2 win at home to Real Betis that moved them to within striking distance of the La Liga title on Sunday.

The World Player of the Year had missed Barca’s humiliating Champions League semi-final exit to Bayern Munich on Wednesday as he recovered from a hamstring problem, but came on in the 56th minute at 2-2 to score the goals that sealed the victory.

Mourinho not sure his future is at Real Madrid

MADRID (Reuters) – Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho dropped another hint he was considering his future by saying he might not be with the Spanish giants next season after they lost in the Champions League semi-finals on Tuesday.

Following Real’s 4-3 aggregate defeat by Borussia Dortmund, the former Chelsea manager was asked if he would remain in Madrid next term and he told ITV Sport: “Maybe not. I don’t know but I want to be where people love me to be.”

Relieved Dortmund survive at Real to reach final

MADRID (Reuters) – Borussia Dortmund held on by their fingernails to clinch a place in the Champions League final on Tuesday with a 4-3 aggregate win despite losing 2-0 after conceding late goals in a nerve-shredding finish at the Bernabeu.

The German side, who will play in their second final after winning the competition in 1997, survived early pressure from a fired-up Real in the last-four second leg clash before wasting several chances to kill off the home team.
