Alonso upbeat despite eighth place on grid

NUERBURGRING, Germany (Reuters) – Fernando Alonso qualified only eighth on the grid for the German Formula One Grand Prix but the Spaniard looked on the bright side of a sunny Saturday, trusting in Ferrari strategy to make up places in the race.

The double champion is second behind Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel after eight of 19 races and his chances of cutting the 21-point gap on Sunday looked remote after the German triple titleholder and current champion qualifed second.
