Google is the best example known on earth, which epitomizes the superiority of operational efficiency against the strategy. By simply converting popular concepts into its own "SIMPLER" forms like more recent google code, base, blog etc, it has and will continue to grow because of the "network effect" these services are causing.

Google is, and has been for years, treading on Microsoft's traditional markets. Do a quick search for companies owned by Google, outside Goodle itself. If you are not already versed in some of their holdings and products you may be very surprised at the overall breadth of the company. Google knows they are wandering, it's what they have been doing and will continue to do.
Also, we should note that this 'universal' plug discussed above ought to be addressed w/ care. Remember that w/ uniformity and/or conformity we actually begin to weed out genius simply because we desire ease of use.

Google can say what they want but they are wandering into Microsoft's traditional markets. If Google does the kind of job that its done on search then Redmond's Office suit will have some competition.
