Now this is a system worth buying. The initial lineup of games looks great (though Twilight Princess being released in two different versions will REALLY tick some people off) and the wand controller is awesome. Plus, being able to play many old games again will be worth it.

The new console looks nice and should be great for people of all ages. I’d love to be able to use it… However there is one huge problem for me; I have Duchenne muscular dystrophy. It is a progressive congenital disease that prevents ones muscle cells from rebuilding and regenerating themselves. The result of this is a disability of total body weakness including my arms. I manage to play GameCube games with WaveBird controllers, but there is absolutely NO WAY for me to play their new Wii games that require arm movements instead of button presses. I’ve always liked Nintendo’s game consoles, and their latest is pretty innovative, I’m just a bit disappointed because there are those of us who may not be able to participate.

After reading how much Sony intends on sticking the consumer with the new PS3 i was blown away.
I think i will stick with my PS2 and when that sadly passes away, then its the NINTENDO WI for me.

Its disgusting for sony to charge that much money banking on blu ray tech that may not catch on.
remember web tv? caught flame died.
Also, sony jacked the wand controller idea from nintendo!!
so for that,,, sorry sony, count me out on your new ´´gaming console´´
my pc can do the same with games!! Oh and my tv ;)

This article seems to have forgotten about the Nintendo Wii being a potential candidate this year for Christmas. Looks like this arcticle is biased alright. A good share of the market is kids, do you think most parents are going to spend $600 on a console? (PS3 and Xbox w/ accessories) So if a good share of the market are kids, thus making this console an instant success, who do you think the developers are going to go to? There can only be on primary winner in this war. 360 and Wii will take Christmas, PS3 is going to be too late, better luck next year. Playstation should quite messing with supply and demand.

“Johnson predicted that holiday shoppers who are unable to bag a PS3 may just grab the Xbox 360 instead: “My thought is that Microsoft is the real winner this Christmas.”

“Some gaming enthusiasts say they are limiting themselves to one of the more expensive machines or waiting for prices to fall before taking the plunge”

“Video game publishers are hitting their stride on the Xbox 360, having had time to get to know the new technology. Industry watchers expect to see a similar ramp with PS3 games”

I echo the comment of Charles, above. I have another form of muscular dystrophy, Spinal Muscular Atrophy. As much as I enjoy reading people’s elated reviews of the Wii’s new motion-sensing abilities, it scares me.

If Nintendo does well in the market with this, the other console manufacturers will have to respond in kind. In that world, I will be totally cut off from playing video games–a past-time I have enjoyed since I was 4 years old.

If things do start heading in this direction, I hope manufacturers remember those with disabilities and provide alternate methods of control (say, via the settings menu.) We may not have the same finesse as our able-bodied friends, but as long as we can still participate I’ll be happy.
