Keep an eye on: Murdoch’s WSJ
Rupert Murdoch’s deal to buy The Wall Street Journal publisher Dow Jones & Co Inc has yet to close, but its impact is already being felt.
Guardian reports that News Corp’s daily newspaper The Australian will begin running stories from The Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones Newswires. The Australian signed a deal with Journal competitor the Financial Times in 2004.
Naturally, everyone’s saying the decision has nothing to do with the deal, just as they did when the WSJ decided to launch a weekend glossy magazine named Pursuits, another idea that Murdoch talked up while courting Dow Jones.
The Australian decision will be viewed as yet another way News Corp plans to integrate Dow Jones into its broader portfolio of global media properties. Fox Business Network does not appear to have a deal with Dow Jones, but you wouldn’t know that from the cadre of editors and contributors who regularly pop up on air. Developing …
