CES: Belkin’s Podcast Studio

January 9, 2008

One thing that’s immediately clear after looking at Belkin’s forthcoming Podcast Studio iPod accessory is that Apple had nothing to do with it.

It does away with iPod’s trademark sleek exterior and opts for the grey slab look with enough knobs and dials to qualify as a seventies sci-fi show prop.

More geiger counter than high tech, the $99 recorder is set to go on sale this summer and is built with a two-channel on-board mixer. It includes two microphones and a whole lotta dials to tweak sound quality. Jacks at the bottom of the device lets users attach better microphones.

Only serious podcasters or audiophiles need apply. iPods not included.
