Web wars leave out porn stars
The adult film industry is being challenged by video-sharing Web sites that offer explicit content for free, Reuters reported on Friday. As Steven Hirsch of the Vivid porn studio told Adam Tanner in Las Vegas, “We’re dealing with rampant piracy, tons of free content.”
This was a big topic at an adult film expo gathering in Vegas this week, but at least one member of the group the industry can’t do without said that the issue doesn’t really affect her.
“Porn work is contract day labor — that’s all the money I’m ever going to see,” said Nina Hartley.
Hartley, 48, has appeared in more than 500 films since 1984 (including a mainstream role in Paul Thomas Anderson’s epic tour de force about the business, “Boogie Nights“). After pausing to show some fans at the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo her famed posterior, she said she makes $900-$1,000 per scene.
