Reliance Industries – star performer of the day

RELIANCE-OIL/Shares in Reliance Industries (RIL), India’s top listed company, surged 4.5 percent on Wednesday to 2169 rupees, helping the Sensex close marginally in the green.

RIL shares have been on the rise for four consecutive trading sessions now, adding over 12 percent over the period.

The volume of Relaince shares traded stood at over 1.8 million shares on Wednesday, its highest single-day volume since July 23.

Reliance Industries, which has the maximum weightage in the Sensex, ended as the top gainer in the BSE Oil & Gas Index and among the 30 Sensex components.

Mukesh Ambani’s RIL is embroiled in a gas dispute with Reliance Natural Resources, owned by his brother Anil.
