Metal index ends as top sectoral loser

December 9, 2009

The BSE Metal index dropped 2 percent on Wednesday and was the top sectoral loser, with all components ending in the red.

Top counters like Tata Steel and Hindalco were the top losers in the metal index and the Sensex.

While Tata Steel slipped over 4 percent, Sterlite Industries dropped nearly 3 percent.

Losses in such counters also contributed in pushing the benchmark lower by 102 points.

The metal stocks have performed well recently, evident from the 17 percent rise in the metal index since November. Would you buy metal stocks right now?
