Stop me if this sounds familiar. A spooky old castle is being returned to a family after many years. Uh, but first they must spend the night there, during thunderstorm season. It seems the telephones are out of order, and…

Two historic castles in central Romania are being returned to a former European royal dynasty and Romania’s former king. Bran Castle is often called Dracula’s Castle because it resembles a horror film backdrop, though it neither featured in Bram Stoker’s famed novel nor did the book’s inspiration, Vlad the Impaler, ever set foot there. Correction on the caption…Vlad Tepes (pronounced tsep-ish) did in fact set foot in the Castule Bran (located in Brasov, Romania).
Though it was not his castle, he did reside there from time to time according to Romanian historians.
In my opinion, the castle does not resemble a horror film back drop. Nearly all of the arcitecture in Brasov closely resembles what you see in this picture. And Brasov happens to be one of the most beautiful cities in Romania.
