They chase each other at high speed, wielding axes and hammers. But the famous cartoon duo of Tom and Jerry are in trouble now for smoking.
A media regulator in the UK received a complaint from a viewer who objected to two episodes involving smoking — both were made more than 50 years ago, when cats and mice had filthy habits that wouldn’t be tolerated today.
Anyway, the media regulator says some smoking scenes will now be edited out of Tom and Jerry. Here’s the story:

Well, after they edited out the sex scenes years ago I knew it was just a matter of time.
- Posted by John C AbellGee, I wonder if they’ll edit out the black servant maid too? It isn’t like we want to totally cover up everyones eyes and pretend that 50’s black servants didn’t exist. I think that lazy parents need to teach their children NOT to smoke instead of trying to see no evil, hear no evil, smoke no evil. It isn’t like we can edit everybody on the planet! How long will it take until everyone it offended by EVERYTHING? Grow some thicker skin people and quit whining!
Editing classic cartoons is senseless! I grew up watching Tom and Jerry and I remember watching them smoke….and guess what? I DON’T SMOKE! I object to those who object to editing!

One more thing…Let’s just edit WWII out from the history books? I’m sure that children might be emotionally distraught after learning of the genocide that took place back in the 40’s!
I don’t mean to make a big deal out of this, but it seems that being politically correct and editing everything today is just going too far!

- Posted by robRob I totally agree with you. What the real problem is, are parents who want others to raise their children. There are also people who feel they ‘HAVE POWER’ by being able to control other people. I would like to remind them that on a planet with 7 Billion other people, they still only have one vote.
