At the very least, it’s a cheap date. Instead of flowers, dinner and a movie, all you need are some Post-Its and a Bic.
Here is some video of singles in Shanghai on what is considered to be China’s first silent dating event. They don’t talk, they just scribble notes and drawings and pass them back and forth.

I guess they want to check whether he or she is the same person whom they might have been contacted over chat or phone before meeting first time or probably they follow some Chinese tradition, any way I like the way they interact and possibly exchanging their fist love letter.
