Hey, Blog Guy, what’s the most absurd thing you’ve seen so far in 2007?
I guess this unnarrated video clip has to be near the top of my list. It’s supposedly a practice drill at a zoo, to train staffers to capture a berserk orangutan.
What’s absurd about that?
Well, the staffers know it’s just a guy in an orange suit. And the guy in the suit is just phoning it in, barely trying to get away, and then a staffer pulls up pointing a tranquilizer gun from a moving car, like he’s Machine Gun Kelly or somebody. It’s all very surreal.
So everybody is just acting?
No, the whole thing scares the bejesus out of some poor sweet children, who are obviously so upset they’ll spend years in therapy. They’re not acting. Meanwhile, I just hope somebody remembers to show this clip to the zoo’s real orangutans, so they’ll know what’s expected of them when the time comes.
