Parents everywhere will be thrilled to learn that some Dutch students have invented powdered alcohol, which they say can be sold legally to minors.
It’s called Booz2Go, and it seems to be the latest innovation in inebriation. Top it up with water and you have a bubbly, lime-colored, lime-flavored drink.
We are aiming for the youth market. They are really more into it because you can compare it with Bacardi-mixed drinks, 20-year-old Harm van Elderen told us. Jeez, I hope he’s not expecting the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for this. Here’s the story:
Powder party! Not the same powder as in the story, but people throw colored powder as they chant religious slogans inside a temple while celebrating the Holi festival in the northern Indian city of Vrindavan March 4, 2007. REUTERS/Adeel Halim

And parents will be thrilled that the powder in Billy’s room isn’t cocaine.
- Posted by John C AbellSo you say now we can sell alcohol to kids legally. I mean yea maybe its only 3 percent but why do we want to have our kids drinking in the first place? Do we really want to teach our kids alcohol is OK or that its the way to live?
- Posted by RichardAnd just how long will it be before it moves up to eight or even ten percent? And what about those taking medication? Or those with cases like asthma? I can assure that no percent of alcohol, will mix well with these things! The best thing that we can do for our kids now is teach them against alcohol and illegal and misuse of drugs.
Isn’t that what Pop Rocks did? Come on. Isn’t it?
- Posted by Shawn HendricksMaybe I shouldn’t write this but here goes

- Posted by Shawn HendricksI wouldn’t think you want them drunk when they’re a hundreds of meters underground working with dynamite, jackhammers, air handlers and all that other heavy equipment.
- Posted by Shawn HendricksDear Mr. Basler,
Should these Dutch students happen to invent powdered orgasm, my comment submissions may be significantly reduced in number and/or frequency. BTW, what is 3% of zero.
Very respectfully,

You know, every country I can think of that allows minors to drink has a far lower rate of alcoholism and drug abuse than either the US or the UK.
But we must PROTECT THE CHILDREN!!!1 Too bad we’re mainly protecting them from learning how to drink responsibly.
- Posted by CharleneCharlene,
You are right. It has everything to do with one law and nothing to do with American culture. At all. Whatsoever.
Ahem. Anyway!
- Posted by MellyI think Lindsay Lohan had something to do with this.
