Okay, what’s wrong with this picture? According to the caption, these farmers’ wives are taking a wooden carriage ride in a traditional 17th century event named for Saint Leonhard, the patron saint of animals, and they…
Excuse me? Patron saint of animals? Well, unless that fox tumbled from a tree and got conked unconscious, this frau has some serious explaining to do to the saint.
“Dead? Oh, no, Saint Leonhard! We were just givin’ this little fella a ride home, and he had some of my red Schnapps here. He’ll be fine and dandy, just a little hung over. You betcha! I think I’ll just have a little more red Schnapps to toast all the little rodents in the forest…”

According to my extensive research Leonhard is the patron saint of horses, of farm animals and is also “the protector of all those working the land.”
If there’s a chicken house nearby, I’d say that fox messed with the wrong saint.
- Posted by John C AbellLooks like the nice lady had the good fox sent straight up to Heaven. How is that a bad thing? Plus, the fox’s fur is cosy and warm.
- Posted by Shawn HendricksIt has historically rested with the Catholic Church to declare a person a saint. In these latter days, beatification by any other organization just seems heretical.

- Posted by CharleneOH! Honey! What a pretty fox! Can you kill it so I can wear it for Saint Leonhard’s Day?
- Posted by Lady Weaseli do believe the fox drank too much and managed to go under the wheels of the carriage
- Posted by TitusWaste not, want not? How about, “Waste it and wear it!” Yeah!
