Yay! We’re goin’ to Big Log Camp!

camp-tires-360.jpgLook, Timmy! Grandma has given you a week at a wonderful camp, and here’s the brochure!

Let’s see. Judging from these photos, many of the activities seem to center around carrying heavy logs, and there’s also wading in a frigid river and wearing old dirty tires on your head. The place is called Self-Denial Training Camp. No, actually I’m not making that up. It says here the camp is run by ex-marines. Those guys know how to boogie!

Well no, Timmy, it’s not a summer camp, because Grandma got a better rate for the winter session. She’s not made of money, you know. But she is paying for the full denial program - no food, no sleep, no television, nothing but the big logs, and the old tire head-gear. Is Grandma great, or what? Oh look, here’s a slideshow about the place:

No, Sir. I’m not a real marine. I’m just wearing the hat.

“Oh, we’re lumberjacks and we’re okay!
We sleep all night and we look like idiots all day!”

Is that ’self denial’ as in, “I’m not a dork,” or “I’ll never, ever be a loser.” or perhaps, “My parents sent me here because they totally care about me?”

Why does nearly everyone in the photo have glasses on is that part of the criteria to go to the camp. Also the guy on the left actually looks like he´s really enjoying himself!!
