It may just be a cultural nuance, but our actual caption says this guy is performing at a festival in Sweden.
That seems an odd verb to use, because to me it just looks like he’s lighting a cigarette. That isn’t much of a performance. You can see that outside any office building.
I’m not saying this dude isn’t really good at it. Heck, he even has spare cigarettes in his hatband, so he must “perform” a lot. I’m just saying if Swedish fans are entertained by this, we have a lot of smokers we can send over for the next festival. I mean, if they’re still alive.

Hey, this is news: it’s Pete Doherty, and he’s smoking tobacco.
- Posted by CharlenePete Doherty turning up at all is actually considered a a big thing for anyone who’s attemepted to see Babyshambles in the past.
If he also smokes a cigarette, then you’ve also at least got some kind of performance to go with it.
- Posted by Carl BaratHe looks like he doesn’t bathe. Plus he smokes. Man, he must stink. Yuck.
- Posted by Dee TI perform in a band as well and sometimes I will smoke on stage. Big deal? I think not. If you’re going to go to a concert prepare to have smoke blown in your face and if its too much to handle, then you might as well pack it in (”if you can’t take the heat, get out of the kitchen” as they say).
As bad as smoking is for your health, ever since the birth of rock ‘n roll smoking as been around it. Some of the best songs out there were born with cigarettes hanging out of the authors’ mouths as they wrote them. A cigarette in one hand, a beer in the other (or Jack and Coke, depending on your tastes).
As the musicians say in my circle (might not be true to yours) “if smoking won’t kill us, nothing else will.” Please don’t repeat that to your children and yes, I do realize that phraze is completely erroneous.
Please don’t take this as any form of condoning the intake of tobacco…its just editorial of sorts. Enjoy!
