Feel-good story of the month…

Blog Guy, it’s been a full summer. Olympics, Democratic and Republican conventions. Athletic greatness, historic nominations, big promises, balloons and banners. What single thing in recent weeks has done the most to lift your spirits?

These photos lift my spirits. A monkey and a rabbit together. The monkey, BoonLua, lost one arm and both legs in a vicious attack by dogs three years ago. He dragged himself to a nearby temple, where the monks called a vet for help.

The monks took him to a center where retired elephants live. There, an ex-zookeeper designed a special enclosure to accommodate BoonLua’s handicap. He lives there to this day, enjoying fruits, nuts and eggs, along with occasional Mentos mints, which he loves.

And because they felt he needed a friend, the elephant people gave him Toby, a young rabbit with a lovely nature. The two are now constant companions. What could lift your spirits more than that?

Hold on a second campers, look at the bunnys expression - looks like he’s thinking: “what the fuck is this crippled ass monkey doing in my cage, his nuts are taking up all the space for me to sleep.”

Until the world learns how to treat humans properly, we should continue to kill all beautiful helpless aniumals and make meals out of them.

BoonLua was probably in too poor a condition to have any surgery beyond what was necessary. Monkeys don’t have the sexual mindset that humans do, so they’re no need to sympathise with him. Animals don’t live in the past either; I’ll bet BoonLua is living it up. He no longer has to search for food, safety, or companionship, and he’ll be given the best of care for the rest of his life. That’s more than some people ever achieve in their lifetime! And his disability has been accomodated. He isn’t mourning the loss of his limbs - he’s too busy enjoying his new (rather enviable!) life. And kudos to his caregivers for not giving up on him :)

Sorry, I can’t take a joke and get beyond the comments and just focus on the story. I know, I’m a hypocrite. Sorry.

What a beautiful story! Want to share this story with children even with the funny remarks about the monkey’s body parts, I must copy and paste and allow the remarks to be shown! Thanks people that was hilarious hahaha glad you didn’t keep your remarks to yourselves! LOL
BLess the Monks, Vet and people at the Zoo. May the monkey and rabbit have many happy years together!

What a beautiful story. I mean, c’mon… he’s a no-leeged, one-armed monkey grooming a rabbit and he found happiness and companionship after that ordeal.

There are many stories like this of animals getting along across species. We could really learn from them.
