Look! It’s Super Leftover Fashion Woman!

September 18, 2008

super-crop-200.jpgBlog Guy, I think I’d really like to be a superhero chick. I want a comic book and movie franchise and junk like that. Can you help?

Well, you don’t seem super-creative, so I guess we can rule that out. I suggest you hit one of the big fashion shows, where they show what the next caped crusaders will be wearing.

For instance, below on the left you can see Leopard Woman. Many animals are already taken, but maybe you could go for Skunk Woman or Schnauzer Woman? In the right-hand photo, you see Cheap Shag Rug Woman, battling for justice and a better hairdo.

Very interesting. And what about the one in the middle?

Oh, that’s just Claudia, my nutty neighbor who walks around with big holes cut in her clothes. Pay no attention to her.

Really, where would people wear the “fashions” depicted in this and previous entries? I confess, I am clueless about that.

I can, however, think of at least one place not to wear them: a hearing to determine whether the wearer should be institutionalized! What about employment interviews?

But I imagine others can think of many other situations where wearing the highest fashion would be imprudent.

I believe that the trends of fashion are provoked by just one aspect chosen from the over-the-top fashion shows..

I wonder if it’s a random process, or what? Maybe fused-out hair will finally have its day!

Fashion is often just art–never to be actually worn. That’s what this is–it’s kinda interesting, overly designed, and meant to get you talking. It’s succeeded well, don’t you think?

May I just say that I really wish my own body looked as good in my own “window dress”? Personally, I think that Duck woman would be a nice touch. Maybe even a Muskovy Duck?

this is the “oddly enough” blog !! for crying out loud, all the fashion show stuff is not odd. show me a fashion show featuring some sensibly dressed women in fashions that are wearable. now that would be odd!!

It looks as though fashion, like art, has transcended to a level beyond the comprehension of mere mortals. Now, clothing fashion is being designed and showcased exclusively for the appreciation of other fashion designers. In the same way music majors have come to appreciate terrible music, maybe with the appropriate schooling and practical experience, I too could be trained to perceive this as something other than ridiculous.

I would say that’s a good question, but have you ever seen the celebrity photos on Reuters? This is exactly what they wear.

And yes, they look just as stupid as the models do. At least the models have an excuse: they’re getting paid.
