Maybe he's just really tired. I'm sure he hasn't slept much in the past few weeks. Not real sure he'll get to sleep much in the next four years either.

Has anyone else noticed how close this election mimics the election in the last season of the west wing? a young, inexperienced, dynamic, minority democrat against a seasoned, well liked except by his own party republican. weird.....

and as for being a "rookie", no one, no matter how experienced they may be, can be fully prepared for the mess George W is leaving behind. Just hope the "rookie" surrounds himself with the best people he can, regardless of political bent.

Scott,

Funny, my representative routinely has meetings with constitutents. She manages it. Properly condicted statistics may have a place. They should not be the sole source of information. Isn't it funny how senators and representatives manage to get out to meet their constituents at campaign time?

PS. I AM something. Whose something are you?

If you think that 50 Senators can somehow meet with over 300 million constituents, you must be on something. Statistics, right or wrong, are obstractions of the population, just like any meetings between representatives and constituents. Have a group of skin-heads meet with their representative and you will get a skewed representation of what the general population wants, just like inproperly sampled statistics. Statistics are realistic, meeting with even the majority of one's constituent base isn't.

To return to the photographs at the heart of this blog, Obama is now facing the daunting responsibiities of being president. I do not envy him.

This morning, in response to a question, I said "I have the distinct honor and privilege of not having to make that decision." Obama does not have that luxury. In addition, he must be exhausted from the campaign, and the defense mechanisms which kept his personal grief at bay during the campaign are now wearing down.

I hope that the American public and the media are kind to him. Pray for him ... hard.

I would not put very much stock in an exit poll with under 18,000 respondents, and especially where the location of the polls is unknown.

Nor would I trust any poll where the poll states that the selected locations were "scientifcally selected." Notice, the words "unbiased" and "unprejudiced" do not appear. What were the criteria on which the "science" was based? What was the purpose behind the poll? I deal with many, many "experts." One can prove anything with statistics.

One of the biggest problems with the U.S. Government is that it HEAVILY relies upon statistics. Ultimately, statistics, just like sterotypes, are fictions. They are no substitute for legislators meeting with and discussing issues with their constituents.

And, before you start presuming to know whom I voted for, give it up. You don't.
