Oddly Enough Blog

News, but not the serious kind

It don’t get no stupider than this!

June 16, 2009

Blog Guy, I know you declared that wedding countdown bra to be the worst idea ever. Now that we have a winner, are you finished watching for other stupid stuff?

Hardly. In fact, I may have spoken too soon. The beer bike, which is a tourist thing over in the Dutch Holland Netherlands, may be even more lame than the bra.

Tourists get on and pedal it, while drinking beer and singing karaoke. I’m serious.

Here are photos of it. ALL the tourists are facing the bar and karaoke machine while moving through one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It’s wasted on them, because they’d rather drink beer and sing “Country Roads.”

You’re right, Blog Guy, that is a LOT stupider than the countdown bra. Can you just imagine…

Shhhhhh! Sorry, I’m trying to calculate if one of those North Korean karaoke-seeking missiles might be able to get all the way to the Dutch Holland Netherlands.

Sounds like a fun idea with a bunch of friends. Think about it, what are High Schoolers/College students more excited about, drinking beer or going site seeing? How many times can someone say they’ve been to Belgium? Now compare that with how many times someone drank beer while on a bicycle bar ridding through Belgium. Hate to say it Rob, but you’re just getting old.

Dan?

I believe that Amsterdam is in Holland. Not in Belgium

Thanks Tim, but to be specific, as the blog post says, it’s in the Dutch Holland Netherlands….

Interesting drunk test, Professor Falken, where the only way to win is not to play.

If they’re drinking while pedaling, who’s steering?

Come on now fellas, fair go. Holidays are supposed to be all about doing the things you love. Drinking, karaoke and bike riding are all hobbies that people can love. It’s not many places in the world you can do all three at once, and whoever thunk up this business clearly did their research and are catering for a chunk of the vacationing population that has thus far been untapped.

It’s genius. Sheer brilliance.

Why say the Dutch Holland Netherlands? Thats like saying the English England Britain or the English American USA.

I agree with Dan, it would be a lot of fun with a bunch of friends on holiday – a very unique experience for sure.

I’m starting to think the stupidest idea ever was the cell phone.

dan is correct (although he might not have RTFA). You can ride one through the city of Leuven in Belgium too. It’s a university town close to Brussels. Try to visit it once in your life, it’s the hometown of Ambev and they’re brewing Stella Artois and Jupiler there. Lots of sight-seeing to do there also… by beer-cart. Lots of students (more chicks than guys, so go nuts).

Well, just to get in on the discussion here, Girl On Heat might have a point. The picture is certainly showing a full house there, and no one’s looking particularly bored.

Well Bandage, by that logic I could say the same thing about a polka band concert, but my God, at what cost to humanity?

If by stupid you mean awesome, then yes, it’s stupid.

@ Bob

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAH

We’ve got them here in Minneapolis. Check out http://www.pedalpub.com. I did a pub crawl for my 40th, complete with 15 of my crazy gal pals and a keg of Summit. We had a blast!

“Dutch Holland Netherlands” ????!!!?!

Do they even edit these items?
And yes, Amsterdam is in the Netherlands not Belgium.

They also have these in the states. Ive ridden one in Minneapolis, Minnesota and although they may be for tourists in Holland, here they were for a group of friends, all very familiar with the sites to see, to just spend a nice afternoon with each others company drinking and having a good time outside. It is 100% a better option than sitting around a dark, dank bar in the middle of a beautiful afternoon.

Dear Andrew,
Did you ever feel like you had just read something identical elsewhere?

Your blogging boyo,
Shawn

P.s. Did I happen to mention they have them in the United States too.

You can now also ride one of these in Houston Pedal Party and it is far from stupid, it is a blast.
