News, but not the serious kind
How about a Christmas punch?
Blog Guy, I’m like you. I have a hard time letting go of the holiday spirit. Can you help bring me back down to earth?
I sure can, friend. Check out our video clip of this Christmas Day celebration in Peru, where men, women and children face-off in bare-knuckle brawls as part of a tradition to clear personal grievances.
Gosh, I just don’t see beating the holy snot out of each other as a true embodiment of holiday magic. How does that fit in with “A Christmas Carol,” for example?
Easy. The lesson is, if you’re going to piss off somebody during the year, make sure it’s someone you can take, like old Ebeneezer Scrooge. Or better yet, Tiny Tim.
Hmm. I’m not so sure. What do the local people say about this tradition.
One local guy said it is “a custom of my people that I am never going to forget. For the rest of my life, I am going to have this custom, the fighting, the bullfighting, the cockfighting.”
Cripes! So for that guy the best traditions are the ones that involve pain and cruelty and death? Hey wait! THANKS, Blog Guy! It worked! Now I no longer have the holiday spirit at all!
I figured. God bless us, every one!
