Oddly Enough Blog

News, but not the serious kind

It’s time to share the pain…

August 17, 2010

Blog Guy, I have a question. I see there is a new strip of options at the top of each blog item, offering your readers a chance to “share” it via Facebook, LinkedIn, Digg, Twitter, etc. Are you guys the first to do this?

Um, not necessarily.

USA/

Oh. Tell me about it anyway, because I don’t get out much.

Well, it’s a chance for me to reach a much wider audience. It could lift my monthly readership numbers from the dozens to say, maybe even the hundreds.

USA/Look, here’s the neat thing about sharing. Research shows that lots of people find my blog very irritating, to the extent that it would ruin their day if they accidentally read any of it.

That’s where you readers come in. With the punch of a button, you can recommend this crap to the yokels who keep poking you and sending all those stupid surveys on Facebook, for instance. See, now you can use this blog to make their lives a living hell.

So if I understand correctly, you want us to badger our friends and enemies alike with your blog, day after day, until they are confused and bewildered and too weak to resist?

Yes, please. And don’t forget weekends.

And who are the people in these photographs, anyway?

Those are a bunch of my regular blog readers, at a recent Oddly Enough Blog party we had. It was great fun!

Blog Guy, the caption says those are just inflatable dolls for use in movie crowd scenes.

Okay, yes. They are inflatable readers. Maybe now you understand why we’re making it easier to share my blog.

Hundreds? Baz…you’re reaching.

And sorry Baz, but I bombard my ‘friends’ enough with my FarmVille and Mafia Wars stuff…I don’t want to find myself friendless if I start posting OE too!

Then there’s the issue of whether or not I actually WANT my ‘real’ friends to know I read this blog.

o_O

BG – I love it and am still laughing! Gives a whole new meaning to “air head” and “inflated ego.”

E – convince someone else to recommend the blog and it will keep your identity safe. Not that I would resort to something like that as my friends would refuse. I have to do my own dirty work…

Shra – I would like to be a new user! Well, one of the voices does.

An inflatable Barry Manilow doll? Yikes!

Bless you, Onedoor. Did I mention the reward for being the first to recommend a blog item is immortality? Look, you didn’t hear it from me, but….

Ahhh, E. You should want everyone you know and love to share your pain and torment from being a regular reader and contributor to the OEBN.

If I could count, I would count all of you regular commenters (why can’t “commenter” be plural?) among my closest friends… That should tell you something about my life right there.

Now who’s got the donuts today?

Henceforth, I declare that I shall only recommend shoe blogs and semi naked (or even better..naked) eye-pleasing men blogs.

Immortality??? I was hoping for an extra donut.

Dave: you are currently living in a cave where you can have us as friends and still be protected from us! Brilliant! Hoping your wife is joining you and you have a wonderful time in the Bahamas.

Shra: Did you know there is an entire group of men wearng kilts that don’t wear a n y thing beneath them? That is why they sit with their knees together so nicely. Doesn’t it make you like men in kilts that much more?

Posted by Onedoor | Report as abusive

BG, you gotta run that Kilt thingy… Ewan McGregor looks amazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzing in a kilt…
Sorry, Mr.Pilot.. but a girl’s gotta say what a girl’s gotta say… :P

What? You mean Justin Bieber ISN’T a mannequin?
Huh!
Incidentally, does anyone know why all mannequins have really bad hair?

I have recommended OE to several of my friends – however, they don’t return my calls or my emails now. I kept thinking it was a coincidence… until I read this today. Who needs friends anyway when you can comment right along with such a wonderful group of regulars here? Geniuses… you are all geniuses – especially Blog Guy!

That’s ok Shra, just wait until the next VS blog. Or until the next Queen of the Entire Universe takes the crown. ;)

Inflatable Crowd? Love the name! I think something like that would be successful here, and in many cities – Inflatable Car Pool Lane Buddy!

Nosmo – they’re really shoddy cheap wigs. At least, the one I got with my mannequin was.

I may have written that book. So if people liked it, they should read my blog and recommend it to others….

How about a simple link that says “Don’t Click Here”. Who can resist that?
