Oddly Enough Blog
News, but not the serious kind
Oh, and don’t drink the water…

Blog Guy, you’re not gonna believe this. I live in Mexico City, and I saw some dude showering outside a few days ago!
Yeah, the city council set up some shower booths to teach people how to save water while taking a shower.
Really? Could that be effective?
Probably. I know if I ever had to shower in public it would be the fastest one I ever took.
Using that logic, I bet public outdoor toilets would lead to even more water conservation.
Yeah, or else some pretty serious kidney damage. Look, here’s the thing. Often, campaigns like this one are really aimed at teaching citizens something completely different.
Like what, in this case?
Like don’t leave your trousers and wallet unguarded while you take a public shower in Mexico City.

I’m speechless. Hell of a way to do public service announcements.
In the first pic, it looks more like the guy is about to cut his own throat rather than finish the shower. I suppose that would be efficient too.
I am just glad the pic ended where it did…
I am off for the weekend, NOT visiting Mexico City but Venice, another water city!!
Guess there is a theme going on here…
Hold on, that first guy isn’t even under the shower – he’s wasting water!
What next, public prostate exams?
Next week, they will be showing folks how many can fit in that large shower to save even more water.
@Nosmo: I really, really hope they don’t start those exams in public.
Will ladies teach ladies too? If yes, will we get a news for that too?
The city council memebers were drinking tequila at one of their meetings, in an effort to save water, when a James Taylor tune came on the radio. “Shower the People”
Doughnuts for everyone!
To add to Nosmo’s comment it does seem quite contradictory that the demonstration on how to be less wastefull while showering appears to be quite wasteful.
@Dave, yes the first pic is creatively timed isn’t it? As for the second pic I think that one was very ill-timed as it seems the dude completely forgot he was not in the privacy of his own shower. :p
Is this a teaching position, then? Exactly what qualifications are needed to teach how to take a shower?
The Navy has a special course on fast showers. It’s called Boot Camp. The water stays on for 5 min, with additional water available at the bargain rate of 1 pushup per second. I’m sure the other branches have similar programs. Maybe we should look into an outreach program?
Now, all seriousness aside, Bring on the Filthy Sanchez jokes!
Showers in public
if it were co-ed they could
really sell tickets
If that’s a job that someone has to do for 8 hours a day; they’re going to be very wrinkly…
It’s well-known that showering with a friend, especially of the opposite gender, saves water. Imagine the increase in public interest, and possibly compliance, if they’d done that in their demo.
And this comes right on the heels of decriminalizing adultery in Mexico, so now it’s fun times for everyone!
How exactly would this system work? To avoid getting anyone of you zapped, let me put forward a few guesses. — The shower automatically adjusts water temperature from tepid to freezing cold/steaming hot when waste is detected?
- The shower tray is a trapdoor that leads to the sewage, after which you’d have to exit through a toilet and end up on this blog?
- The glass turns transparent and everyone can see you in your birthday suit, minus tree designs, skulls or salmon bars?
- Someone else is sent inside the shower and you have to help them out regardless whether its Berlusconi or his dentist?
I can think of many more guesses. Can you?
