Learn touch typing the fun way?

March 28, 2011

Okay designers, you know the problem. Despite the incredible popularity of computers, a high percentage of men aren’t learning to use a keyboard properly.

We need to teach men to type using the standard QWERTY method, named after the first six letters in the top row. Lamar, you said your group has made some progress?

COLOMBIA/You bet, Boss. Let me present the QWERTY Shirty, a keyboard blouse designed to hold a guy’s attention long enough to teach him.

But Lamar, won’t that invite stupid pickup lines from the guys? “So, where do you live @ young lady? Let’s go for happy hour at the SPACE BAR. I’ll start us a TAB. Come with me to ESCAPE.”

Ahem. May I continue, Boss?

Sorry Lamar. What about that other problem, guys who don’t know how to use a mouse?

That brings me to the Mouse Blouse, Boss….

You’ve done a great job here, Lamar, but what if the teacher still can’t attract their attention, even with a keyboard on her chest?

Well, I guess she could wear it on her asterisk…

There’s something odd about this idea. Not sure that I can put my finger on it, but I’ll try… Can I buy a vowel?

oi. What’s with this Qwerty stuff? You’re a journalist, you’re supposed to be pushing Dvorak. The lady should be an agent of change!

Can’t wait to get my hands on one of those 😀

Nice lips, though…

LOL!!! Spin, loved the “tapping” into a new market comment…
Well, would this stop folks from using the CTRL+C and CTRL+V button? Or would it just send them into a frenzy??

I’d be happy to keep my fingers on the home row keys!

I aspire to be a touch typest, but for now I am merely a hunt’n pecker!

And the rest of the outfit completes the theme by looking like paper that has gotten jammed in the printer.

Where do I get one?! asdfghjkl; Figured I’d start practicing.

Actually, there was once upon a time that my wife threatened to dress up in a keyboard box so I’d pay more attention to her. That was right before she whacked me up side the head with one….

Excuse me, sometimes I have to jiggle the keys to get them to work.

Now we can go from second base to home in one stroke.

Very clever….well….not really. You’re missing a few crucial parts, such as the monitor. Although, I’m sure you could design a hat that would fit the bill (no pun intended). Then there’s the question of where the hard drive would be located….I’m not even going to TOUCH that one (seriously…eww).

@Spin, I’m sorry, at first glance I thought you said ‘keybroad’ in your first comment.
Or maybe that was just me.
Probably the latter.
Something about having a num lock.

Very innovative! And I’m thinking the next model, which trains you for thumb-typing on phones, could be Best Chest Texter, with a special upgrade being the WTF model that is even larger.

The last thing I heard was that although attention and sales have been astronomical, learning has not progressed as well. Many purchasers have only been gaining skill on the Enter and Insert keys, with Print Screen running a close third.

Looks like she’s auditioning for the Big Bang Theory.

Posted by justCAM | Report as abusive

You don’t recognize her, Cam?

Posted by rcbasler | Report as abusive

It would make it easier to type if she were flat chested but, not as much fun! :-p

Nice wrist rest. :)

You’re right, BG, that’s my sister! Mom would be embarrassed. She told her to wash her keys before she went out!

Nosmo: key broads is pretty funny.

I have two spare keys to put on my keyboard: one says WINE and the other says OH NO. Lacking doughnuts, there are days they would come in handy if they actually worked…

When do we get to see some guys in semi technical garb?
I could think of an interesting place for a remote control:)

Breaking News:

Keyboards get busted. Ironically, they work better than before. Details at 8.

Lol One!!!! I know what you mean.. 😉

redruin: There’s a DVORAK ANORAK coming up soon. I guess Lamar wants to market that towards Fall/Winter though. Would make more sense.

Loving the comments… will share this article on facebook hehehehe

‘Press any key to continue’
Hmm… which one is the ‘any’ key?
To heck with it, I’ll just press ’em all, possibly more than once.

With a keybroad like that, I may get as high as, I don’t know, three words a minute!

Posted by Nosmo_King | Report as abusive

And let me guess Nosmo, your words would be:

or something of the sort? 😛

Posted by Malteser | Report as abusive

That top is already feeling the effects of having a keyboard on the front.. notice the tears around the edges…
tsk tsk… shabby work, I must say…

Posted by Shra | Report as abusive

@Spin – well spotted. The wireless keybroad is in fact the latest thing in IT support.

Can’t help wondering just what the real intention of that space bar there is. Is that supposed to be the adjuster? They’ve got the back space in an odd location, but I suppose it would work okay with two hands..

I cant help but think is this ergonomicaly correct????

This is exactly what I hoped to find when I clicked on that headline and I’m glad to say you didn’t disappoint.

This gives new meaning to TOUCH typing :)

For children, however, I would recommend www.typekids.com
