News, but not the serious kind
Did that damned tiger escape AGAIN?
Blog Guy, I know you’ve been to other countries, and I have a question. Do their sports teams have mascots like ours do?
There are some, but I believe they are hunted down and shot, as you can see in the photo here. As a result, it is not a very popular career path.
Wait a minute, Blog Guy, that’s not what’s happening here. The caption says this is a zoo staffer in a mock drill to test emergency response in dealing with escaped tigers.
Well, yes, technically you’re correct, but I thought that just sounded way too lame even to repeat here.
I mean, why don’t they just practice the “drill” of keeping their cages locked, so that “tigers escaping the zoo” isn’t such a big threat? I have to think that watching this drama unfold undermines the confidence of zoo visitors a bit.
Of course, then a more logical explanation occurred to me. They just put on this little drama as a warning for the REAL tiger watching the whole thing. I bet now he’ll stop working on that escape tunnel of his….

if my career choice is working at the zoo and pretending to be an animal, I think I’d go the panda route http://blogs.reuters.com/oddly-enough/20 10/12/08/bamboozle-small-pandas-for-a-li ving/
It’s nice that the real stripey kitty-cat seems concerned at the fate of the fake one.
Either that or he thinks it looks mighty tasty.
You know, under all that stiff-upper-lip-ness, the Chinese are REALLY goofy people…
Pandas, tigers, what next? Pooh Bears?
Shra – wait till Medo visits China, and then you’ll get a pooh bear test too, in case the vampire bear escapes!

Shooting poor defenseless tiggers – and I don’t believe for a second that it’s only an “anesthetic shot.” This is great news! Now Bob Barker and PeTA can head off to China in Tigger’s defense and give Shamu a break.
That must have been one difficult chase tracking down that Tigger, because we all know he’s bouncy, trouncy, flouncy, and pouncy.
Always have your Tigger spayed or neutered! What are the big sticks for? That does nothing to dispell the kung-fu stereotype!
Stop it, BG! Reading this caused me to blow my Frosty Flakes out my nose!!
Hold on, justCam, please note page 126 of the fine print says: Blog not responsible for replacement Frosty Flakes…
WHAT! I’m calling my lawyer! Dave?
OK, what’s the REAL tiger thinking now?
1. “Hey, good lookin’ – what YOU doin’?
2. “Drills, shmills. Just wait ’till the REAL thing!”
3. “Cute and cuddly — NOT!”
Jazz, wouldnt that be “How you doing?” with a wink? (Picturing Matt Le Blanc doing that… cuteee!!)
Mr.Pilot, that was Tigress and these zoo people wouldnt come within 200m of her… she is BEYOND awesome.. sorry Po, you are still awesome!
I wonder what Tiger is thinking?
1. Geez this species really wants to tame me?
2. Gladiator?
If that were Cheetarah (spelling?) those guards would not have stood a chance!
@Ifly: Thunder cats!
Scampering around in the tiger costume being shot at can’t have been a job many people volunteered for…?
@jclimacus: Your “song of innocence and experience” is
brilliant. WB would approve.
