Oddly Enough Blog
News, but not the serious kind
Where’s your Science and Pie section?
Hey Blog Guy, I saw a picture of President Obama browsing in a Washington, DC bookstore. That’s pretty cool, isn’t it, that the president is such a devoted reader?
Oh please…
Huh? I thought we would be on the same page about this, so to speak.
Yes, of course reading is a very good thing. But let’s not kid ourselves. Obama was at my neighborhood bookshop, Kramerbooks.
So?
Kramerbooks seamlessly connects to the Afterwords Cafe, which sells sinfully rich pies and cakes. Now, Obama’s interest in desserts and junk food has been well-covered in this blog, so what do you think he was really doing at that shop? Let’s look at all the photos.
Yep, just as I suspected. See, he feigns interest in the SCIENCE section, and the next thing you know he’s looking at red velvet cake and goober pie. See for yourself.
Blog Guy, I’m amazed. How on EARTH did you deduce that?
It wasn’t hard. It’s a ploy I’ve used myself, many times.

I am delighted to see Kramerbooks in today’s blog. I have had many a memorable and delicious brunch there.
We all know that the POTUS uses electronic means for everything, including his nightly talk to the FFOTUS (First Family Of The US). On this line of thought, the POTUS would never read anything in the old fashioned printed out style. Hence, the use of a NOOK reader would be more to his liking, while reading a book.
Oh cry me an iriver. So what if the Prez’s interest in Science is Kindled by junk food?
As Hermie the Pizza Guy would say “We need Kobos, not hobos”.

MMmmm…pie…
What’s with the panda on the cover of Malia’s book? Isn’t she a little old for that sort of thing?
Used book stores are the best on a cold, windy, rainy Autumn afternoon, especially if they serve a cup of coffee so strong that a horseshoe will float in it. All the hours I spent in Borders in Ann Arbor, browsing used books…. I never knew what I would find inside of them. In one, an edition of Edmund Spenser’s The Faerie Queene, I found folded inside of it a copy of a final exam on The Faerie Queene, administered at The University of Michigan in 1922.
The other day, I noticed, in a local store, my pies are squared! Isn’t that some kind of fooferaw noticed by scientific mathematicians?
I made an apple crumble over the weekend and had that with custard… But I do enjoy a good book with something just as tasty to eat…
Mmmmmmmm!
I thought I’d just stop by
For some books and a slice of pie
What kinds are there?
Both apple and Moliere?
Huzzah! I can be there by 10 if I try
Nicely written RB
We all love pie, very random indeed!
@Arbrene-Hussain: Welcome to commenting! It’s not as random as you might think. The Blog Guy knows of everyone’s love for pie:

I have books about the Science of Pies, it’s a perfectly valid book store section.
Spinny, you are like a library of blogs.. you go, girl!!
Hmm… this thought came to my mind:
Krispy Krame-r. Would be the official hangout for this community, methinks!
Reading the Bard and downing medi-doughnuts…
@Malteser: “Reading the Bard and downing medi-doughnuts…”
Malt, you’re living the dream
Not anymore…now with the news of this blog’s imminent disappearance, it’s actually sad re-reading my comment. Meh.
