Dancer formerly known as Prince

Posted by: Robert Basler

Blog Guy, it’s ME! I’m the guy who collects photos of U.S. presidents dancing, and your blog helped me out with some that I was missing.

So now, I’ve expanded it to include royalty, as well. I thought maybe you could help me out again.

That’s a tough one, but our photographer caught up with Prince Charles a couple of days ago, and he was nice enough to do the Carimbo for us.

That WAS nice of  him!

Well, I think our photographer slipped him a few bucks for his trouble.

Isn’t the Carimbo the dance where the female drops a hanky and the male partner picks it up using only his mouth? Did you get Charles doing that?

Don’t push your luck, Slick. Our photographers don’t carry that much cash with them.

You can do it! Join the Oddly Enough blog network!

You put your handcuffs on, you take your handcuffs off…

Some of you have asked me about that new program down there in Mexico, where nightclubs are being operated by federal government police.

I think the experiment seems to be working, judging from some fresh photos I’ve just seen from nightspots in Ciudad Juarez.

As you can see here, the Federales have organized a lively session of the Hokey Pokey. THOSE dudes are having a GREAT time!

Plus, think of the fun when the Federales ask for your ID at the door.

“ID? We ain’t got no ID! I don’t have to show you any steenking ID!

Revel like the devil!

Posted by: Robert Basler

Blog Guy, I’ve noticed Reuters uses the word “reveler” quite often. I don’t know what that means.

Reveler is a useful noun with a variety of meanings:

1. Somebody who spills a jar of toothpicks on her head

2. A person who has difficulty eating corn-on-the-cob

3. A dude who is eaten alive by a crocodile

4. A guy who for some reason, possibly involving a lot of rum, thinks getting painted green is just a heck of a good idea

5. A chick who is carried away by a large white bird as she’s heading for the beach in her bikini

Thanks! It must have been difficult finding specific illustrations for each definition.

No, not really.

Happy birthday to Dr. Doll, a regular commenter here.

Taking all the sport out of it!

Posted by: Robert Basler

Blog Guy, haven’t you overlooked a fashion story this season? You always review the new creations for police decoys, designed to entice the criminal element for easy arrests. Well?

That’s a very sore subject with me this year. Sure, I went to the big insider decoy show, Snare Wear 2009, but this year they’ve gone too far!

The new creations lack subtlety. If you stick a ballerina dress on some hairy guy and put flowers in his hair and send him out in the snow, that’s not decoy work, that’s entrapment!

So you’re saying this dude is overly-tempting?

He may as well carry one of those huge Ed McMahon checks for $5,000,000, made out to “Anybody who can take this away from me.” If I were allowed to use Photoshop, I’d put one in his outstretched arm right now!

Slow dancing with important dudes

Posted by: Robert Basler

A couple of weeks ago I had a blog item about dancing presidents. It has now come to my attention that a lot of the current and former powerhouses in Washington love ballroom dancing, and have some kind of a formal cotillion.

They belong to the “So you think you can Govern and Dance?” club, which seems to be a bit male-dominated.

I’ll probably be in a lot of trouble for revealing this, but Vice President Joe Biden tried out for a place a few days ago, and a source got a picture for me.

His dance partner, former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, is still assessing whether Biden makes the grade, but clearly he’s good at eye contact and small-talk.

Look! It’s the Dancing Presidents!

Posted by: Robert Basler

Blog Guy, I’m hoping you can help me. I collect photos of dancing U.S. Presidents.

Then I doubt if anyone can help you.

My collection begins with a priceless Daguerreotype of Zachary Taylor doing a polka in 1849, and includes a never-published photo of Dwight Eisenhower doing the Twist.

Awesome! You don’t have that rumored photo of Jimmy Carter on a disco floor, do you?

Yep, that’s mine. But I’m missing the last three presidents because of some unpleasantness, and I thought you might help me with those.

Sure. Do you think you’d want to exhibit your collection at my popular Goofy Face Museum and Doughnut Shop?

Let me think about it. I get out in six years, or maybe earlier with good behavior.
