Super-rich guy in good humor…

Posted by: Robert Basler

ice-cream-crop-120.jpgBlog Guy, I know you sometimes indulge your readers’ fantasies. I collect photographs of really rich people eating ice cream. It isn’t a large collection, but I’m hoping you can help get me some good ones.

I can’t resist a challenge, so I put our shooters on this one. I rejected a shot of Queen Elizabeth drinking a cherry Slurpee from 7-Eleven, on the grounds that it isn’t really ice cream.

But here’s the good news: a photo of billionaire Warren Buffett eating ice cream on a stick! We’re also staking out a Baskin-Robbins near Bill Gates’ house, in case he gets hungry. Is this a great blog, or what?

The gullible: back with a vengeance

Posted by: Robert Basler

Just when we were lamenting the passing of April Fools day — see the posting immediately below this one — there is fresh evidence that tricking large numbers of people isn’t necessarily a lost art.

I draw your attention to the Wired report on top internet spoofs: http://wiredblogs.tripod.com/internetspo ofs/ , compiled by Drew Lewis of fark.com.

They’re all there — savetoby.com, bonsai kittens, money from Bill Gates, etc.

Buddy, you got change for a Grover?

Posted by: Robert Basler

Sometimes life doesn’t imitate art, it imitates novelty. There is a place on the Web where you can order billion dollar U.S. bills, featuring portraits of your choice — John F. Kennedy, Robert E. Lee and Henry Ford. I’m not sure why we would put a defeated enemy general on our currency, but that’s a different subject.

Anyway, fast-forward to reality. U.S. Customs agents in California have found 250 bogus billion dollar bills while investigating a man charged with currency smuggling. This guy’s billion-buck bills carried a picture of President Grover Cleveland, and an issue date of 1934 — back when a billion dollars was a lot of money.

It may be just the right time to start circulating these bills — Forbes magazine reported this week that the world now has a record 793 billionaires.
