"Oswaldo was born in Managua, and began his photo career almost accidentally after finishing his military service with the Sandinista government during the civil war. His first civilian job was as supply chief for the photo department of the Sandinista state news agency ANN, which employed only expatriate photographers. When ANN's director decided to replace all the photographers for Nicaraguans, Oswaldo found an opening.
