Indian
you like to comment but you always hide your name? who are you afraid of? let the world know your opinion freely. After all arent you from the world's "largest democracy" ? Mr Indian.
Having said that, India has many problems at home. Better take care ofyour own country where Pakistani glags are being hoisted in different districts in Assam and Kashmiris have risen up to Indian occupation. You guys have no business in Afghanistan.

Iraq was difficult for the US but ultimately troop surge had worked there. However, Afghanistan is a whole different ball game. The terrain, the history, the Taliban insurgents who are veterans of Soviet occupation resistance, the ethnic mixup of the country. Afghanistan is a very complicated quagmire for the US. A nuclear armed Pakistan to the East and surrounded by Iran, Afghanistan is a landlocked country where troop surge can become a strategic vulnerability as US would not be able to sustain itself without Pakistan's logistical support. Pakistan doesnt necessarily see Taliban as useless, The pushtun Taliban are favored by Pakistan, therefore due to strategic vulnerabilities US leverage on Pakistan has its own limitations.
On the night of 12 November 2001, Taliban had retreated from Kabul under cover of darkness. Only to move to the country side and since last seven years have successfully managed to stage a remarkable come back. Today, Taliban are a force to reckon with. UK commanders on ground are accepting ground realities. It is for US to realize and bring Taliban into the mainstream.
