Pakistan burnt up enormous resources towards India. It spent most of its money in setting up camps, training, providing shelter and launching offensives inside India. This proxy war was meant to bleed India into bankruptcy. Unfortunately it bled Pakistan instead and India has gone stronger economically. Even now if aid comes from the Western countries, Pakistan will still waste it on its unnecessary war towards India. If Pakistanis rulers (read as their military) give up their fancy dream of conquering India and work towards national building, peace will prevail. More than any other country in the region, Pakistan needs to accept others and learn to live in amity. Money will only come if conditions are suitable for business. Pakistani military has turned the whole region into a war zone so that it can continue to hold on to power.

@....it did not realise that without a strong democracy in Pakistan stability in Afghanistan would remain an elusive dream."

---Without a TRUE and strong and it is not true democracy where politicians are attached to a rope that PA pulls when it wants.

@But if help from Western powers, to whom wholehearted public support has been extended both in the fight against terrorism and through logistic support for their efforts in Afghanistan, is not reciprocated immediately then the impact on the deteriorating economic situation may provide space – so far blocked – to the obscurantist forces that pose a serious threat to the present democratic dispensation."
----Was there ever a public support for the WOT by the Western powers...............NO.

The EU needs to do more to meet its obligation towards Pakistan. Pakistan has extended full support to NATO's mission in Afghanistan, now Pakistan must increase the cost. Heavily tax the NATO supply convoys passing through Pakistani ports and highways. NATo and EU cannot have a free ride anymore and should DO MORE!
