Your shameless biased attitude is more than evident now. Any post from me that puts up a question mark on Islam is being filtered by you. In this case when I put up a comment for rough deal for women in Islam then again you have proved yourself to be Islamic fanatics. Are you ISI propaganda guys or what? Everyone including you know how Islam treats women as sex objects and nothing more. Yesterday only an Islamic mullah school declared a fatwa saying that if husband says talaq thrice even in drunkard state then also talaq is valid. What kind of rights does that are given to women by Islam?? Mark my words you shameless creatures, Islam will burn and rot in fire of hell. May Allah show no mercy on its murderous children. Amen!!

We all know that Pakistanis at all levels of society have committed crimes like these.

But beyond that, Myra, your defence of the elites is baffling. What does being elite have to do with the crime of assaulting a woman? On one hand you excorciate them for being above the law. On the other you say they should be held responsible for their hypocrisy because they face many challenges? Wow. Do you care about the state of women at all in that country?

The state of women in Pakistan shows you every fault of Pakistani society today. They hold a convicted felon who attempted to murder her co-workers (Aafia Siddiqui) on high account while the lives of women who are raped or attacked with acid are so disrupted and threatened that they must flee the country since the state won’t provide them refuge. More than anything, this shows how rotten the values of Pakistanis.

Excellent article. You must know and recognize that women have always had a rough deal in Islamic societies. In ancient times almost all societies treated women as chattel but where rest of the world moved towards modernization and recognized human rights for women, Islam at same time refuses to move ahead with time since Koran is treated as literal word of Allah. So Islam continues to treat women as a mere property of men and thereby having no rights of their own. Where whole world has recognized the high importance of women in shaping the modern world, but Islam continues to treat women as a machine to produce babies and increase Islamic population so that one day, in words of Islamic mullahs, “whole world will bow to Islam”. One must ask muslims that is Allah really so merciless to women??

Even more surprising is that no Paki poster has yet commented on this article. All that these pakis can do is shout about their nukes, China, taliban and Islam. So whose fault is it now, RAW, CIA, Mossad? Can your nukes give respectable life to your women and children?

Women, as rightly observed by Myra, have no rights in Pakistan even today.

I have to admit, as painful as it may be for some of us to do so, that it is too late for Fakhra, but it’s not about Fakhra anymore. It’s about women who live in countries where this despicable practice has become entrenched. To raise awareness about Fakhra’s case is to raise awareness about the threat every woman faces in these countries, but as an eternal pessimist, I have to keep asking myself: “When will we stop raising awareness? When will we be able to actually change things?” But what can you do when the only thing you can do is write…

And you’ve done a remarkable job at that.

Bilal Khar by no means is a mullah. His family (father: Mustafa Khar, cousin: Hina Khar) etc etc all are considered “liberal” feudals. Please keep things in perspective.
