The American broke Al Qaeda in the region. The Taliban are destined for the same fate. And it will be all the more meaningful if that blow comes from the hands of other Afghans.

I have to yet to meet an Afghan, Pashtun or otherwise, that really wants the Taliban back.

They have the patience and the strategy of confining the foreign troops to ever fewer cantonments. The american plan seems to be to discharge their troops as soon as they return home and utilise them as civilians to rebuild the infra sructure in USA. The funds shall be approved in 2013.
The talibans will reinstate their control throughout the territory of Afghanistan including over the armed forces, allowing Mr Karzai replacement to administer foreign affairs with the foreign world.

This is the progosis based on the history of its people.
