There have already been thousands of campaign pictures from the U.S. and before the process is over there will many thousands more which will inevitably provide rich pickings for blogs like this. From the Democrat nomination contest in Iowa come these three interesting examples.
Jim Young stills the frantic activity of the campaign trail in this image of Senator Barack Obama apparently meditating inside a bubble.
It is hard to escape the conclusion from John Gress’s picture that for kids at least, campaigning is not all fun and frolics as former Senator John Edwards waits backstage with his children at Cronks Cafe.
Andy Clark brings us Hillary Clinton caught apparently playing the crowd like a piano.
More to follow in the New Year, in the meantime may I wish you a happy, healthy and peaceful 2008.

Happy New Year guys!
- Posted by Diana NgilaMay you have strength, health, love and all you
Hey guys.
Tried posting yesterday but wasn’t entirely sucessful so here I am again.
Like I said happy new year. May you have all the health, wealth, strength and experience endless love this year. But above all, peace and fulfillment.
To Reuters, Dave and your great team of photographers, thank you all very much for opening up and sharing your experiences. Your insights have proved immensly valuable and are greatly appreciated.
As for celebrating new year’s day…I’d say, it was virtually impossible with the current situation in Kenya. It’s already been termed as a ‘genocide’ others call it a ‘civil war’ while others ‘ethnic cleansing.’ Whatever you choose to call it, innocent people are dying and the internally displaced persons continue to rise. Now the priority is to ensure that they have adequate food and water before they can begin to go back to what they called home (if it still exists because of the arson cases and widespread looting) or resettle them.
Though reports indicate that the Central Business District in Nairobi is relatively calm, it’s environs are not. Killings continue amid heavy police presence and rape cases continue to rise. It is sad and unfortunate that all the President, Mr. Mwai Kibaki and his rival, the Opposition leader, Mr. Raila Odinga can do is to shift blame.
I pray that the merciless killings, arson attacks, wanton destruction of property, gagging of the press (with reference to the ban of all live broadcasts), rape cases arising from the insecurity, human rights abuses, and the restoration of true democracy shall be realized in the nation of Kenya.
