From a rich picture file of events in Iowa comes another one of those images that rang a bell somewhere. Andy Clark’s picture of the winner of the Iowa Republican caucuses former Governor of Arkansas and Baptist preacher Mike Huckabee appears to show rays of light emanating from his head as he addressed a crowd of supporters in Grinell.
It was something I recalled seeing as an art student portrayed in classical representations of Moses on his return from Mount Sinai, like this one by Jusepe de Ribera, in which his great wisdom is represented by similar-looking beams of light - there is a well known engraving of the same thing by Gustav Dore.
I draw no further comparisons and in any case Andy’s picture is deficient in terms both of the tablets and the beard, although as an earlier picture of his shows, perhaps the beard can be accounted for.

Obama is the only Presidential candidate who can unite this country. He scored third in the REPUBLICAN straw poll in Iowa this summer. Republicans respect his honesty, even if they do not agree with his Democratic platform. He has proven he has the best judgment out of all the Democratic candidates. He is the only frontrunner who was against the Iraq war from the start. Obama did not fall for Bush’s trick by voting for his Bill to declare Iran’s military to be terrorists, like Hillary did a few weeks ago. Obama did not mess up health care reform in the early 1990s so that it is still broken a dozen years later.
Hillary, on the other hand, doesn’t even want real change. She says she is an “experienced” Washington insider and Bill Clinton has said she will fill out the agenda he started in his Presidency. Bill says Hillary is like FDR was to TR.
In fact, Hillary Clinton is a partisan and secretive figure. For example, she is hiding her records as First Lady until after the Primaries when its too late for Democratic voters to judge them.
Stop the Washington insider policy spin cycle in the Bush/Clinton/Bush/Clinton monarchies. Bring on the change!
