Omar, Masood, every photographer who goes on an embed and the network of stringers in Afghanistan never cease to amaze me as they continue to find beauty in an ugly world, sometimes risking all to tell the story that is Afghanistan.

The day Taliban left Kabul, I met Omar’s brother in the northern Afghanistan. He said “I have my brother for you, very good Russian speak, very good drive car, strong”. And, yes, indeed, next day I met Omar – my eyes, ears and brains for the next month of danger and excitement. Almost all of my work, probably the best I ever did, was because of Omar. I could continue talking about him for hours, but it would be enough just to say again – I’ very, very proud. Will put some happy snaps from those day on the site tomorrow…
