Seeing these photos is great! I wish we had known more about these sorts of things (eg., GWB dancing on stage or making funny faces – they make him seem so much more human as well as a person who’s okay with being goofy) before President Bush left office!
For some strong reasons, I had decided early on in his 2nd bid for office that I would not be voting Republican for president again. For the first time in my life, I talked about politics: I was so upset about several issues, but I never said things like “He’s a stupid idiot” and really believed it. I know he was well-educated at an ivy-league (i.e. “tough”) university, and I also know that what we, “the public” see is not necessarily what is really going on. In fact, it rarely is.
But the way Bush was treated in the last month or so of his presidency was an embarrassment to me. I felt terrible for him that he would have shoes thrown at him, have people cheer for him because he wasn’t president any more, have newspaper, magazines, internet articles written about him as if he were the absolutely worst president ever. That’s what we say now. But there are many ways to look at his presidency. We haven’t had another terrorist bombing here. (Yes, I know: it’s been “made up for” in Iraq!) WE DON’T REALLY KNOW what Bush helped to improve because not enough time has past. All the economical problems we’re having now can’t be blamed just on Bush. Others … WE … must take responsibility for having contributed to the state of the country.
Mr. Bush, I apologize to you that we haven’t treated you with more gratitude and respect. I do believe that you believed that what you were doing was right, even though most of hte time I would have disagreed with you. You were devoted and I believe you DID try your best. Thank you for your service. God bless you and yours. Namaste.

I am proud to see the media acknowledging that retired President Bush was a human. He laughed, thought, cried, tried, and strove through two incredible terms in office. They were incredible because of the lasting events that happened in its years. We may hate, love, or be indifferent to him; but we need to realize that one man is not going to make an entire country happy. Everyone makes mistakes, fumbles words, and makes silly faces.

I AGREE WITH YOU SEBASTINE. PRES. BUSH HAS BEEN GREAT FOR THIS COUNTRY. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO ME IS THAT HE KEPT THE U.S SAFE SINCE SEPT. 11, 2001. HE IS THE MAN. AND IN MY MIND AND I’M SURE MANY OTHERS HE WILL GO DOWN AS ONE OF THE GREAT PRESIDENTS.

President Bush is the Man, sooner or later America will regret not having someone like him as their President. You made the world , not America alone safe for the last eight years. Now we don’t know what’s lie in waiting. I salute you, Mr President enjoy yourself.

As an amateur photographer, this blog has become a personal favorite of mine.

However, these past four entries about Bush in office have helped me see a different person than how the media wishes to represent him.
