The low angle shot of the soldiers is almost as amazing as the fact that you were there.

Why do photographers or reporters, or simply someone taking a picture of Kim jong Il have to capture his whole body and from head on? I understand to show respect, but how does shooting from head on and including the enitre portrait demonstrate respect?

Thank you for the wonderful story and photos! That reminds me of my childhood in Soviet Union times, when people were not so fixated on the money and success but more open and friendly and thus happy.
