KAT-
There is a lot you can do as a straight spouse. Get involved with the local spouses group. Ask them what they are doing for gay partners. How are they dealing with the fact that gay partners/spouses can't even get on base while their loved one is deployed? Do they have an advisory board or a link to commanders? Ask the same of the commanders. There are too few gay spouses to have an impact. We really need our straight allies to speak on our behalf. Thanks!

Hi! I am a very happily married female to my husband who has all the benefits that I enjoy. I'm very sadden that this is not the same for all people. This is just not right.

What can people do to help make this wrong right!

I behind both of you, and feel so sorry for you will have to be separated.

My heart goes out to this family, its sad when you can serve and possibly die for your country but your country gives you no support. And the very people you fight for so they can live a life of freedom are the ones keeping our gay soliders from living there life of freedom. SO this family fights for our freedom but our country takes theirs from them. Its sad and breaks my heart what would happen if the 66,000 gay and lesbian service people didnt fight for your freedom.

Perhaps one day this world will be a loving place a place that will offer Same sex couple the benifits they deserve. until then we just all have to keep praying and pushing for new laws to pass. very sad indeed when your taken away to serve a country that doesnt serve you.. God bless you all.

Like DADT was, DOMA is a deeply un-American policy that serves no tangible good and is based on not only a narrow interpretation of the Bible as an instrument of law but is at its core, based in bigotry & fear.

These two petty officers and their family deserve better treatment from the nation they serve. Shame on those whose bigotry they protect with their very lives.
