Chavez has been OK for Venezuela. I happened to work in an organization with excellent contacts inside Venezuela, especially with the military an any opposition groups. The man is highly respected, he is extremely smart, and has a lot of work, because Venezuelans, and Latin Americans, are tough people, fearless and intelligent, unlike North Americans who are a timorous, lockstepping bunch who swallow any trash the corporations feed them. That is why the country, USA, fell prey to fascism without a shot fired, except by the NRA zombies obsessed with “defending themselves”.

I’ll take Chavez any day.

Why is Chavez villfied? From what I understand, he has really helped the poor and middle-class in his country and seems to have decent ethics and political aims. He’s waaaaaaay better than Russia, China, Pakistan, India, Mexico, etc,etc..the rulers and their countries.
Why is Chevez a special target when there are very bad rulers and systems everywhere you look? If it is because he nationalized key industries (oil), for one…I applaud his approach which seems to be good for his country.

Wow, he almost looks human in these photos. Unfortunately, casting this animal in that light does no one any favors.
