"At the same time, I’m also struck by how wary they are, an island of religion in a sea of secularism." What’s that supposed to mean? Is the island of Catholicism going to be washed over and die? Or is it a blessing in disguise that the church will become smaller and more devoted? The struggle for maintaining ones faith in a secular age will result in a strong church, not a wary one. Pessimism, as demonstrated by the pilgrims in this article, will not be tolerated by true Catholics, or true members of any other faith group.
