What will the comedians do?

U.S. comedian Bill Maher said last month that having Barack Obama as the next president would make life difficult for comics because it was not easy to find things about the president-elect to make fun of.

“Barack Obama has to give comedians something to work with. Seriously, here’s a guy who’s not fat, not cheating on his wife, not stupid, not angry and not a phony,” the comedian said in his show Real Time with Bill Maher on HBO last month. “Who needs an ass**** like that around for the next four years?”

Unfortunately for Maher’s writers, Obama won. But some are still convinced that Obama can be a rich source of humor.

A day after Obama was elected president the comedy firm said it bought BarackObamaJokes.com, “the friendly Barack Obama joke site.”

“We know that a president is good for nothing if not for jokes,” the site said in a Feb 18 posting.

So, how’s this for an entry, even if it’s at someone else’s expense? A congratulatory press release from the derivatives exchange CME Group that misspelled the first name of the president-elect as “Barak.”  A presumably red-faced exchange resent the release with the correct spelling via PR Newswire about an hour later.

Paritosh, its called sarcasm… Ever heard of it… Maher does want a guy like Barak in the white house… What is the point of this article? Everyone knows people are going to make jokes about the president, no matter who it is.

I’m sure the Fresh Prince of Bill Ayers will have us laughing soon enough. The Onion has already had some pretty funny Obama bits.
