		<description>Hey New York!  Everybody is leaving for states that have less socialism, lower taxes and a better business climate!  I left!  No regrets!  

The NY state population grew from 18.2 Mil to 19.0 mil from 1970 to 2000.  That is absurdly low compared to America as a whole.  And the population growth continues to be weak.

Immigrants flock to NYC as they always have.  Subtract that out, and you see shocking outmigration to other states.

Places with negative population dynamics can spiral downward in a horrible way.  Ask Detroit.</description>
