Shanghai have good chance of signing Drogba, says coach

SHANGHAI (Reuters) – Shanghai Shenhua have a good chance of signing Chelsea striker Didier Drogba but need to work hard to complete the deal, coach Sergio Batista said on Thursday.

Just three days after scoring the winning penalty in Chelsea’s shootout victory over Bayern Munich in last month’s Champions League final, the Ivory Coast international announced he would be leaving the London club.

chance of signing Chelsea striker Didier Drogba but need to work

The 45-year-old Chinese internet tycoon donned the number 11 jersey and played for the first half of the game against Argentina CN Sports Football Club in a frontline partnership with Anelka.

Batista named Shanghai manager, wants Drogba

SHANGHAI (Reuters) – Former Argentina manager Sergio Batista has been appointed head coach of Shanghai Shenhua on a six-month deal to replace the sacked Jean Tigana, the big-spending club said on Wednesday.

Shanghai, who are ninth in the Chinese Super League, fired Frenchman Tigana in April after a poor start to the season, replacing him with interim coach Jean-Florent Ibenge.
